NICO AND SUNDY VISIT NYC IN FEB. 2006

Nicolas and I went to New York City for 5 days last week. We got to see some of our friends up in the big city and just spend time together, which is something I feel like Nico and I had not been able to do since the arrival of Mateo back in 2003. We arrived at Newark Liberty on Tuesday at 12PM, Erika, Lize, Nico and I took a taxi to the Milford Plaza in Times Square NYC. We checked into the hotel, dropped our bags in the room and went to Johns Pizza for lunch, we were all starving. Johns was right around the corner from the hotel and I knew of it to be the best Margerita Pizza in Manhattan. We had 2 pizzas! They were delicious. Next stop, Toys R Us in Times Square - The largest Toy Store in the U.S. - Nicos favorite spot. We walked around, saw the dinosaur, the king kong lego display, the bionicles, had lots of fun... About 30 minutes of toys we decided to go to the hotel to rest.

Tuesday evening Nicolas and I took a subway to Union Square to meet John, my BS, for a bite to eat. We met on the street and walked around until we decided to stop at Revolution, a trendy noodle thai restaurant. We had fun, after dinner back to the hotel and crash!

Day 2 - Nico and I visited the American Museum of Natural History. We spent over 2 hours looking at the exhibits. He really enjoyed the early humans, the Darwin exhibit, the dinosaurs (of course), the planets, Native Americans, Monkeys, apes, turtles, etc. We were exhausted from all the walking. It was fun and the highlight if Nicos week.

Back to the hotel to change shoes and drop stuff. Nico was hungry so we stopped at McDonalds close to the hotel for a burger. We walked about a mile from there underground to catch the N train to Brooklyn to meet Hunter and see John and Anissa. The train was actually a nice relaxing ride and I snapped a good shot of Nico looking at the Brooklyn Bridge.

At the Malloys we enjoyed lots of Noggin and playing with Hunters Toys. He loved to throw his boppy into his couch before diving into it. Made me miss that age when Mateo was alot easier.

Next stop is my traditional "All You Can Eat" Sushi at Bayridge sushi - Here is a photo of Mateo and I there in Sept. 2004. We had alot of sushi. Nico was getting restless and so we had to say goodbye and head back to the city. Our train ride back to the hotel was nice and relaxing. Nico really enjoyed the commuting part of our trip.

I dropped Nicolas at the hotel to stay with Erika while Lizette and I met my old friend Bo at the Improv Comedy Club on 52nd between 8th and 9th. We had tickets and saw about 6 very funny comics. It was fun. Next stop, Smiths Bar for some live music. We had some more drinks and some wings while listening to live music. We got back to the hotel around 1am and I was exhausted! Loooong day - Yes, that was allllll Wednesday!

Thursday - Day 3 -
Was a boring day for Nico. I had 2 meetings for work. He was awesome and as I promised after the meetings we went to Toys R Us again for sime toy shopping.
Wednesday night Nico and I met my friend Lisa Brodar for dinner at Heartland Brewery. After dinner Nico and I went back to the hotel for some rest.

Friday - Day 4 -
We woke up early and caught the 158 to New Jersey to meet Terry (mama) at a diner in Edgewater. We arrived and met Zane and Terry and we all had breakfast. After we ate, we drove around NJ, did some shopping and then hit Rispoli for a lobster tail and canoli. Then to the Gwynns residence for coffee and rest. Nico waited patiently for Zacky to arrive from school and when he did, they were very happy to see eachother. The next few hours Nico and Zack re-enacted certain Star Warz battles with about 10 Light Sabors. Then Dominique arrived, she was happy to see Nico and nice enough to let me shop in her closet (another NY/NJ tradition). Lastly Tommi arrived from work and we all had Pizza. I love that pizza in NJ.

Bus back to NY meet up with Lize to see RENT. I was late due to the NJTRANSIT - so after dropping Nico at the hotel and changing, I ran from the hotel to the theatre. I missed about 15 minutes of the show but it was awesome.

Saturday - Day - 5
We awoke and packed to prepare for check out. Nico, Lize, Erika and I all decided to go eat at a Puerto Rican restaurant called Old San Juan - we walked about 5 blocks from the hotel to get there. The food was delicious, Nico ate well. We then walked to Times Square to get more suvineers.

We were so tired and ready to go so we went to the hotel and got our bags, hoped in a taxi and went to the airport.

We had an amazing time!!!!
